What's new in Ladle
A short log of recent and upcoming releases.
v1.6 - On the roadmap
- Nutrition & macros: on-device calorie and macro estimates, plus allergy and dietary flags.
- On-demand translation: read any recipe in your own language.
- Image Import 2.0: smarter photo and screenshot import.
- Send to Reminders or Calendar: export your shopping list or meal plan to the apps you already use.
- Shopping List widget: your list on the Home Screen, with tick-off.
- Hands-free Cooking Mode: an interactive Live Activity that reads steps aloud and takes voice navigation.
v1.5 - September 2026
- Ask, don't tap: six actions for Siri and the Shortcuts app, from asking what's for dinner to starting a cook, logging one, adding to the shopping list, planning a recipe, or opening one. Recipes turn up in Spotlight search too.
- Browse & save: a built-in browser. Find a recipe on any site without leaving Ladle, then save it with one tap.
- Smarter free imports: more sites now import through the free reader, so fewer recipes cost you a credit.
v1.4 - July 2026
- A full redesign: every main screen rebuilt on one calmer, cleaner design, with an accessibility pass throughout. A roomier Library grid with a suggestion tile up top, an immersive Recipe Detail that gathers your notes and cook history in one place, a Today-first Meal Plan, and a tidier Settings hub.
- In-store shopping mode: a progress header, checked items that sink into an "In cart" section so the list shrinks as you shop, aisle reordering, and share-as-text to send the list anywhere.
- Write it yourself: a guided editor for adding a recipe from scratch, from the name to the finishing touches, with the edit screen rebuilt to match.
- Voice dictation (Premium, on-device): dictate a recipe with your voice, in every language your iPhone can dictate, Czech and Slovak included. Nothing leaves your phone.
- Ingredient display polish: compound amounts like "3 lb 5 oz" render correctly, and edit rows read as one clean line.
v1.3.1 - July 2026
- Cook Mode 2.0 (Premium): a rebuilt cooking screen. Start with a get-everything-ready checklist, tick ingredients off step by step, size the text to read from across the kitchen, and resume where you left off. Timers now ring even on silent, take +1/+5/-1 minute tweaks, and stay accurate on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.
- Scale to what you have: hold an ingredient, set the amount you've got, and the whole recipe rescales, rounded to numbers a cook can actually use.
- Batch import finishes the job: after a batch import, Ladle offers to extract the ones the free reader missed with AI, in one tap (uses credits).
- Nicer empty recipes: recipes without a photo get a hand-drawn illustration instead of a gray box.
- More accessible than ever: a full VoiceOver and Dynamic Type pass across the app.
v1.3 - July 2026
- Import from any link: websites plus YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, with on-device video transcription.
- A calmer "Add a recipe" hub: paste any link first, with photo, text, and batch import a tap away, and a review step before saving.
- What can I cook tonight?: daily picks from your own library, worked out right on your phone, so it never spends a credit.
- Smart grocery aisles: the shopping list groups itself by aisle, so you shop the store top to bottom.
- Lock Screen & StandBy widgets: today's meal beyond the Home Screen.
- Share a photo to Ladle: send a screenshot of a recipe straight into the importer.
- Honest freemium: 3 free AI import credits for new users, Premium $1.99/month or $12.99 once, and 10-credit top-up packs.
v1.2 - June 2026
- Today's Meal Plan widget: Home Screen widgets in Small and Medium that show today's planned meals.
- Share to Ladle: send a recipe link from Safari or any app's share sheet straight into Ladle.
- Seven languages: English, Slovak, Czech, German, French, Spanish, and Italian, with an in-app language picker.
- Import from text: paste a recipe from a message or note and Ladle structures it for you.
- Your own shopping items: add manual items to the list and swipe to delete.
- Broader import support: handles more recipe sites and messier pages.
v1.1 - April 2026
- Cooking Notes: per-recipe notes that stick around through imports and edits.
- App Attest device verification: every API call is cryptographically tied to your device.
- Share-link reliability fixes.
v1.0 - March 2026
- Initial release on the App Store.
- Smart Recipe Import (URL + AI fallback), 2-week meal planning, smart shopping list, Cooking Mode with Live Activity timers (Premium), Image to Recipe (Premium), tags, cook history, recipe sharing, iCloud sync.
